Front Cover Draft

First Front Cover

This is a draft of my front cover. This is missing a few front cover magazine conventions like the bar code, date, price, issue etc. I experimented with the background and decided to black it out so any text over can be seen clearly. However, it's not very effective as the list of bands in red aren't very clear as they go onto the main image. Also the masthead looks rough. I like the main image and her pose, I think it fits in with the rock genre. The image above was the final edited photo which I worked on to create this draft of my front cover.

Masthead and Headline Experiments

These are some of the different fonts I looked at to use for my masthead and headlines. I chose the second masthead and the third headline because I felt they were most suitable for their purpose. I didn't want to use the first masthead as it was the font used for the title of my DPS. When editing my front cover, I darkened the light areas to make it clearer.

For the headline, I used the third font as it suited the artists name 'Bella Muerte' which translates to Beautiful Death. I think the grunge look of the font links with that. I found the others more plain for this headline.

Here I've tried out two layouts of my front cover that I can use. Creating more than one will help increase my ideas when developing and making my final front cover.
